In the 2150's, a scientist discovers time is actually fluid; past, present, and future all exist at the same time. What he doesn't know, is if the current timeline can change when something is changed in the past. The US government wants him to find out. The theme being to make right what once went wrong.

Unfortunately, a group of time travelers from 50 years in the future are determined to stop the scientist from changing the past. So, they steal the spaceship Einstein, which has the time device on board, causing them to end up in 20th century Earth, which sets up a time loop until the scientist and his group break it by beginning their missions. When they end up back in their present time, they find things have changed, but not necessarily for the better. Will they return to the point in time where everything changed, or will they decide they've messed with history too much? Find out in this time travel novella.

In the"About the Author" segment, Mr. Ball is attributed with a BA in English. This novella is so full of grammatical errors that I would not want to be associated with his alma mater. The premise of the story is excellent, however the writing style is extremely amateurish. In the English language I was taught, the conjuctive word "and" is used to tie two phrases together in a single sentence and a comma is not used. With few exceptions, Mr. Ball places a comma before the "and" and also inserts commas into sentences that are direct statements not requiring a comma. If you think of commas as grammatical speed bumps, this book can only be read at approximately 2 miles per hour cruising through a shopping plaza vice the 70 miles per hour on an interstate highway without the speed bumps. It would be a novel unto itself to document the vast quantity of grammatical errors throughout this book.

Out of Time A Time Travel Novella edition by Cliff Ball Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

This book was a big disappointment. The plot was quite banal and shallow, and kinda dumb. The plot elements were banal and shallow, and not interesting. The characters were cardboard cutouts that exuded banality and sterility. However, the worst aspect of the book was the horrible grammar and wording. I decided, by the beginning of chapter 2, that a drunken and almost-illiterate high school freshman had likely written this story in a lame effort to submit it as a creative writing essay. I was unable to finish the story due to its many flaws and lack of any redeeming features.
I just checked out the author’s page on , and he seems like a very nice person, so it really pains me to say that I do not like this novella at all. I normally enjoy time travel stories and probably have six or more on my right now, but this barely compares. The plot is somewhat convoluted, but I guess that should be okay because everything is explained repeatedly. Once the real action starts – when the travelers get to a point in time they are attempting to alter – the goings-on resolve themselves in only a few pages. Maybe it’s too ambitious for such a short work, so nothing is presented in detail. Things that should register a great deal of interest barely get a nod from the characters. Nothing is ever questioned. They just accept it and move on. The writing is probably best suited for late grade school or middle school, so if you are a well-read teen or adult, you might want to pass on this one.
I love time travel novels and until this book I had never begun reading one that I would fail to appreciate or let alone not finish , well this time this author managed to turn me off and after one chapter the book was put down never to be finished.

Yes I was warned in some of the reviews , but I always thought reviews were subjective and that badly written meant the reviewer did not like the writing style , this reads like its a translation of a badly written foreign novel. You find that you are adding commas to make a sentences work, guessing the missing words and wishing for a natural progression of story telling rather than a awkward account of proceedings.

No character development , lots of name dropping that adds nothing , what could be a interesting premise is hurried along to the detriment of any developing story. Complete lack of surprise probably due to the fact everything is over explained or glossed over

This books needs a complete rewrite and it needs editing.

I really feel sorry for the author as this could have been a great novel and maybe in the future it might be , time travel may be science fiction but a good book makes you want to believe and this only makes you cringe.

For a dollar it was not a total waste as I had always had inkling to write a time travel novel myself and this proved its not an easy task and that maybe self publishing is a double edged sword indeed.
Although there are a few valiant attempts for a story to break out, it. never quite make it, in my opinion. It does successfully demonstrate the problems with time travel and changing the past.
I thought this was ok. There were some interesting parts but I had some issues with the book.

In this story the government had a time machine and so they sent some people back in time to change some things. The rationale for what they did and didn't change seemed questionable. In general the ways they employed time travel were not very circumspect in my opinion.

Also the dialogue through a lot of the story was kind of strange. The way most of the characters talked didn't seem normal or natural.

As I was reading I was wondering if the author was ever going to get back to the scene that the story opened with. After that opening scene the story jumped back (in time) to how time travel was discovered and then the story went from there. It finally did get back to that opening scene (sort of) so in that regard the author didn't leave any loose ends.

Despite my criticisms there were some good things about the story. There was an amusing part concerning Carl Sagan and other interesting developments scattered throughout the story. Also some of the mysterious things happening during the book were explained at the end. So if you hang in there you may think this story is alright!
Thought provoking for sure! Some of the zooming back and forth in time was a little confusing but it still kept me interested enough to keep going. It was amazing to me the historical events that were chosen to be changed and how some would be left alone because the repercussions of changing a detail would have been too devastating. The possible scenarios were interesting.
Only thing wrong is the book is too short, I would have liked more of history being changed, and watch what happens as a reprecussion of such changes. There were several of these shown, but I would have enjoyed a longer version of this book. Perhaps if I look into other books by this author, I will find more of this type theme and sit back with more to read. I tend to like long books as it gives oe some meat on the bones to digest. Good read, I just would have liked more.
